Nnamani, Radda mourn Ibrahim, say ex-Yobe gov was exceptional leader

Former Governor of Enugu State, Sen Chimaroke Nnamani, has described the demise of former governor of Yobe State, Bukar Ibrahim as a loss to the political class.

He said the death of Ibrahim, variously regarded as the father of Yobe, created a huge vacuum in the polity.

Remains of Ibrahim, who reportedly died at a Saudi-German Hospital in Makkah, on Sunday, have been buried in Saudi Arabia.

Nnamani and Ibrahim both served as their respective states’ governors in the wake of the Fourth Republic and also as senators after their tenure in 2007.

The former Enugu governor stated: “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our former colleague, Sen Ibrahim of Yobe. The news came as a shock to me, and I can only imagine the profound pain and loss experienced by the immediate family.”

“Ibrahim was an exceptional individual, who dedicated his life to public service and made a lasting impact during his tenure as governor and senator. His visionary leadership, unwavering integrity and commitment to the welfare of citizens, especially in Yobe, will always be remembered and cherished.”

Reminiscing about his relationship with the deceased, Nnamani stated: “As a colleague, I had the privilege of witnessing, firsthand, Ibrahim’s tremendous dedication and tireless efforts to bring positive changes to his constituents.”

In the Senate, he noted, Ibrahim demonstrated patriotism and ideals of nationhood in his contributions to motions and bills of national significance.

He added: “His passion for social justice, economic development and equal opportunities inspired all those who had the chance to work with him.”

Beyond Ibrahim’s accomplishments as a governor and senator, Nnamani noted: “Ibrahim was a warm-hearted and compassionate individual. He always had time for his colleagues, sharing advice and encouragement.”

He prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest, as “he will be sorely missed”.

ALSO, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has condoled with the government and people of Yobe over the demise of Ibrahim.

The condolence message is contained in a statement issued, yesterday, by the governor’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Mohammed, to newsmen.

Radda said Yobe and Nigeria lost a patriotic elder statesman, who was truly committed to national service.

He described the late Ibrahim as a distinguished leader, who contributed significantly to the socio-economic growth of Yobe and human capital development of its people in great ways.

“Indeed, the leadership qualities of Ibrahim are unmatched. He led a life of true impact, wholly devoted to advancing the cause of his people and other Nigerians in Yobe. May Allah (S.W.T) grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Amen,” Radda stated.
