Ex-A’Ibom commissioner tasks Nigerians on patience, hope

With the current harsh economic realities confrontingthe nation, a former Commissioner of Information in the state, Okon Nsabasi, has urged Nigerians to be patient and hopeful for a brighter future as the world has a way of correcting itself.


Nsabasi, who spoke over the weekend at his Shelter Afrique residence in Uyo, said he had come to realise that, no matter the situation in the society, the situation gradually ease into a desirous one and called for calmness, patience and hope among Nigerians as the nation navigate through the present harsh economic conditions.

The former commissioner gave the charge while responding to a visit by his successor, Ini Ememobong, the current state Commissioner for Information in commemoration of his birthday. He expressed appreciation for the love showered on him by Ememobong by the visit,even during the dwindling economy, and charged Nigerians to have positive mindset towards a better tomorrow as no bad condition is ever permanent.

Nsabasi also expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Ministry of Information for honouring him and prayed God to grant the information commissioner resources and frontiers for greater initiatives and exploits for the cause of humanity.


Earlier, Ememobong had said it has become the corporate tradition of the ministry to celebrate former Commissioners of the Ministry on their special days in appreciation for their contributions toward the development of the ministry and the state at large and also to give them a sense of belonging in government while on the other hand drawing from their wealth of experience.

Represented by the Director of Public Relations in the Ministry, Mrs Grace Akpan, the Commissioner prayed for long life in good health and prosperity for his predecessor.

The event witnessed by the Director of Administration, Mrs Nti Udoka, featured the usual birthday chants and presentation of birthday gifts to the celebrator.

Present at the occasion were the wife of the celebrator, Mrs Ntung Nsabasi, his children and his associates, including: Mkpisong Ibibio, Obong Celestine Etouwem, a former Director General, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, AKICORP and Francis Ekanem.
