Emir, residents go spiritual over drought

Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, yesterday, led residents to perform rain-seeking prayer following the 16th day of rain seizure in the area.

The supplication, which held around 8.00 a.m. at the Eid Prayer Ground Mosque, superintendent by the Chief Imam of Katsina Central Mosque, Imam Gambo Mustapha.

Participants beseeched Allah for a bumper harvest to ease the prevailing economic hardship, stir reduction in food prices.

They also supplicated for resolution of the insecurity in the state.

One of the supplicants, Abdurrahman Bature, told reporters that crop plantations are in dire need of water to survive, not forgetting to mention the high cost of food items in the market.

Bature also called on residents to fear Allah in their daily activities, and for leaders to treat their subjects with sincerity.

“Even these unnecessary killings of innocent citizens can be responsible for rainfall shortage, including our bad characters,” Bature preached.
